Posted - 04/08/2013 : 00:03:06 Yeah get the warm end between 31-33. And as lotabob says. The pink belly is a sign of presses. You'll find his eyes will go cloudy and will shed around 3 days after.
Think of shedding as a coat. As the snake grows he needs a new bigger coat. If he grows quickly hell shed more. When they get older and growth slows down. So will his shedding. |

First thing I'd pick up on is your hot end isn't warm enough. Should be 32-33°C.
Pink belly and soaking are classic pre shed behaviours. Well not all royals will soak and in this humidity right now I wouldn't expect a royals to need to soak so you'll need to check the bowl, make sure their aren't any little bugs dead in the bottom (snake mites).
Sheds happens whenever necessary, anywhere from every 3 weeks to every 4 months, they don't follow a schedule. |

Posted - 03/08/2013 : 22:56:00 Hot end is 28c cold end room temp they been same since I got him. Just notices he is soaking in water bowl, I not seen him do that before! Also his belly is pink but has always had pinkish colour. Just wonder how long it should be between sheds? He is just over 3 months old I think |

Posted - 03/08/2013 : 22:46:01 Yeah this is very normal. Royals are a pain in the backside to feed. They are very fussy. Do you no the signs for shed. As in shed my royal still eats. So don't go on this as a schedule. Royals can go months without eating. They only eat when they feel hungry. Some get royals that never eat. So e get fed every week no problems.
What set up you got? Have you checked temperatures? If so are they the same or changed?
Try again next week but newbie owners always stress when they don't feed. This isn't a problem. |
