Just wanted to say hello as a new member .
I have adopted a Royal Python from the RSPCA in Brighton . He is very placid , very calm when being handled ( no balling as yet!) and absolutely beautiful.
They don't know how old he is but he's about 3 ft so about half grown .
He's had a little explore around the vivarium today but has kept some of his body under his hide - we're mostly seeing a little nose !
I've kept snakes before in 1995 but I'm still yet to regain confidence with feeding problems etc so I may be asking for help - also when we collected him today he has started to grow dull so will be shedding . I'm nervous about him shedding whilst not settled in.
Just wanted to give a big thankyou to the RSPCA team they really made sure I understood what keeping a snake entails and they do a good job looking after unwanted reptiles .
Hopefully speak to some of you soon !
Ps I've called him Ry after Ry Cooder

...and welcome from yours truly as one new member to another :) I used to live in Brighton and know the RSPCA well. I adopted two cats from them in the distant past (both now gone to that great litter tray in the sky)and they are a dedicated bunch of people. I did think about going there myself for my Royal as I have friends in Brighton, but in the end decided that 3 hours each way wasn't a great travel plan if I could avoid it. Well done for giving a new future to your python and I'm sure he's lucky to have you.
