Hi Python folk! Sorry.....forgot to introduce myself in the excitement of my joining forum. My name is Jan, and I am an animal fanatic! I have had Corns in the pat, but my love of pythons resulted in my purchasing my beautiful Mnemeth (normal) a few months ago. She has been in a Rub since purchase but now needs a viv. Knowing only what I have ready up in books, I decided to join the forum so that I can pick youze guys brains if and when need arises.....and I am soooo glad I did. Thi is a great site!

I have studied Folklore and stories
from many countries over a number of years, during which I have met some fascinating people....one of which was a guy whose father was a very old gentleman who I was told was some sort of witchdoctor/medicine man in his village and thus a story teller to boot. Being an owner of a Siniloan at that time, I asked about snake related stories (amongst others) and was told the outline of Mnemeth's story. The name stuck in my head, but didn't seem suitable for a male Siniloan (eventually named Piemur) so, when I eventually got around to buying my new snake (I almost got a Rainbow Boa!) and watching her for some time, the name returned....and so she became Mnemeth, which seems to suit her.

Nice name, how did you come up with that?

Mnemeth is pronounced "Nemeth" (silent M). Its a very old name which stems from one of the African myths about a magical snake like creature who can pass through time. Crazy, I know, but can't do "normal" names for my lovely snake
