I've been trying to avoid pinning my aggressive one, not sure it's going to do much between the mutual trust of man and snake ^^ Let me know if your attempts seem to help or hinder :)
chrisc Posted - 15/08/2012 : 20:35:16
ive been getting her out with the hook then put her on the bed an grab her behind the head, its difficult to pin her head with the little hook ive got an dont want to squash her neck
Kelfezond Posted - 15/08/2012 : 19:57:59
Are you pinning her or just holding her? :)

If I remember rightly these can strike out about the length of their body so you'll be fine as long as your hook is about 6 foot long. The speed of these guys a hook may be more of a battle too than just grabbing it but I'm sure you'll soon learn what works and what causes the claret to flow.

or could earn some man points an just stick my hand in there without gloves on, may need a bucket of water on standby to get her off though.
she was not too bad when i got her out to put a lock on the viv so didnt get tagged this time although she is very fast an makes the bull snakes look slow an their pretty quick.
yes ive read something like that about their strike range.
heres some pics the videos are being uploaded to youtube now

now ive had a really good look at her i can see why they are called beauty snakes

thanks, yes shes going to be interesting will try an video the first handling attempt.
think she was originally a rescue so not sure of her past, ra should stay tame with all the handling he gets
Baobab Posted - 10/08/2012 : 09:20:40
Haha sounds like your going to have your hands full there Chris. Ra is a flighty little thing when getting him out, fortunately he's still a baby.
Gorgeous snake by the way.
chrisc Posted - 10/08/2012 : 06:00:33
