Posted - 30/12/2011 : 21:40:38 Yeah I get the stare, Sanke only hissed around food though she isnt doing that anymore and she strikes at anything that moves around food but she has never got me yet but thats her choice not mine she could have tagged me a million times over so I give her my respect for that. I'm the same too, I wouldn't be without her and I just cant wait to see how she grows. |

Posted - 30/12/2011 : 01:52:08 This is the unnerving sight I face when doing water changes. She is a lurker, you don't see her coming, you don't hear her coming she just appears almost out of sight, just checking if you are a mouse.

Posted - 29/12/2011 : 22:00:54 Thanks Lotabob,
He was funny today when Katana insisted on holding him..I think he scared her. He was wrapping around her hand, brought his head up from below (like a great white lol) he moved in real slow until she felt his tongue on each finger, one at a time. Then just rested his chin on the back of her hand.
Sometimes when he sees me coming for him..he raises himself and just watches..he's adorable |

Posted - 29/12/2011 : 21:54:41 Aww cute little Boa. They always do that turn to your hand thing when you pick them up, I think its them deciding whether to bite you or just start climbing you. |

Posted - 29/12/2011 : 17:48:43 Lol - no ...sadly, unless I ever moved to a house with lots more space and could buy a guaranteed dwarf - well, you know, 6-8'. I realise boas are a whole different world waiting to be discovered. One day perhaps ...
And as for thugs, I have Ziska and the corns and royals and Shadrach can be pretty thuggish around food. Fed Shadrach yesterday and he struck and then dropped the mouse and struck the tongs. Then he looked at me as if to say, 'Oi, you should be waggling that mouse for me, what do I pay you for??' So I went back in with the tongs and he struck them again; I picked up the mouse again and he said, 'oh, at last! What kept you?' It was his first small mouse too. Never touched the sides. |

Posted - 29/12/2011 : 15:06:41 Aww he is gorgeous! I do like them, but there are so many other snakes I like, too, and this is a tiny house with 3 cats who insist on every door standing open (though I do draw the line at the stair door in weather like this!) So quarantining a new boa away from royals might be a problem. Plus even dwarf boas can become very strong; if the boa got too large for me to handle I'd be heartbroken at having to rehome it. So I'll just admire everyone else's. |
