Posted - 10/03/2012 : 14:31:26 Shadrach's last shed could have been a bit of a disaster but luckily I was there when he started, and on seeing him in difficulties, moved him into a pillowcase bath, where he breathed a sigh of relief and got his kit off in no time at all.
Hmmm...his viv is the only one with ceramic heating, and I've heard it dries the air out ...might this be a problem in the future? I had of course provided him with a big shallow water bowl in the hot end, but, recently, when he went blue again, resolved to be extra vigilant. And I filled his 'lake' to the brim and put it directly beneath the bulb. If that didn't work this time I'd have to resort to damp hides.
But it did! I came down this morning to a perfect shed, festooned across the front of the viv and half in his 'lake'. I fished it out, hung it up to dry, and got Shadrach out for armchair walkies.
I've felt very guilty about depriving him of his walkies; owing to the mite scare I've been disturbing snakes and vivs as little as possible, and he was a little jumpy at first, but is now curled up in my sleeve.
He's growing. His colours are changing, although I was horrified to discover a deep pink blotch near his tail. Had he hurt himself? Then I found a regular line of them, in amongst the black markings ...and exactly the same arrangement on the other side ...lol, will he be a pink-tail pine?
As for that shed ...as I said, I hung it up to dry, but somebody found it ...

Naughty Molly! (But it's keeping her out of further mischief. ) |

Posted - 10/03/2012 : 16:05:00 Good to hear the shed went well, I have found ceramics dry the air out too but a little bit of extra H2O in the vivarium in one form or another does the trick. That cat is a naughty scamp, been there two seconds and already ruling the roost, its a good job you're a cat lover. |
