Posted - 26/05/2012 : 15:33:16 When Ziska my gopher first decided to use her water bowl as a latrine, I thought it was quite amusing. At least I was saved the task of hunting through her substrate for the stuff.
However, compare this quite modest effort of about 9 months ago -
with today's HUMDINGER!
I think she's half Burm!
ps do hope you're not eating your tea ... |

Posted - 27/05/2012 : 19:50:35 wow she is nearly as thick as my wrist - and haven't been overfeeding either - she's a big strong fast pit- fab to handle but not for the faint hearted - mind you we know each other even if we're still on biting terms, lovely snake.
Good luck with Phoenix's eggs! |

Posted - 27/05/2012 : 19:34:35 jeff is the only one of my snakes to bite me so far anyway an it didnt leave a mark.
think the females still get bigger just grow an bit slower, will try an find where i read it an post a link.
yes fingers crossed their viable eggs, shes been with the male a couple of weeks an i did see one lock while i was there |

Posted - 27/05/2012 : 19:26:53 Ah my pics are rotten - I've got a couple of deep scratches and numerous punctures across my knuckles ...she doesn't usually react like that when i go in to her viv; like I say, must have startled her as usually it's all hisses and headbutts. Atm got her all coiled up between my shoulderblades. Soppy snake!
Love her so much - she's worth a few bites (and she's nothing compared with new cat Molly who still bites me all the time lol.)
Always thought female snakes grew bigger than males but I may be wrong. Oooo your corn sounds to be doing well - hope the eggs are successful! |

Posted - 27/05/2012 : 19:13:58 pics or it didnt happen haha. never a dull moment with her is there. i will probarbly go for 4x2x2 vivs with a shelf thats half the size of the floor in there depending on how big they get. was reading a while back about bulls might also be pits in general cant remember that the males grow a fair bit faster than the females. not a huge difference in length with my 2 but ivan is almost double the girth of mavis.
i was lucky that my corn phoenix never pooed on me when i had her. she is currently getting busy with a very funky looking jungle corn at my friends, should make some interesting looking babies

Posted - 27/05/2012 : 19:04:08 Well - OOOOUUCHHH!
I just went into her viv and lifted the hide she usually favours ...must have startled her as something whipped out like a mamba and gripped me! All I could do was to keep my hand still.
'Ziska! That's RUDE!'
Eventually madam deigned to let go of me and dived into my top, where she's still roosting, leaving me sucking gore from my hand, copious gore lol.
My fault, but what a madam she is!
Gotta love her though! |

Posted - 27/05/2012 : 18:41:18 Uurrgh yes, dog mess ... And cats too - would rather deal with snake crud - mind you that only happens once a week per snake as opposed to incessant cat tray duty - bless them.
Ziska's 18 months and already 5' (she's in a 5'x2'x2' viv) but dread to think how big she'll grow - shop estimated she could get to 8'. Mind you she's quite a sweetheart once she comes out and calms down but oh boy as for the snake mess ...
At least she's never dumped on me like a corn - they seem to plan it! |

Posted - 27/05/2012 : 17:49:34 snake poo doesnt bother me that much but picking up my dogs mess repulses me. im hoping ivan an mavis get to 7ft+, ivan in about 5ft at 2 years old an mavis is about 4 1/2ft. going to wait another year before breeding them so shes bigger an should give a bigger clutch |

Lol I just breathed through my mouth ...
Urrgh, spray it up the WALLS? Bloody hell we must love our snakes (mind you cats are as bad; I have a geriatric Finn who forgets himself and have to keep the bath filled with a layer of water as Molly thinks it's her latrine for some reason ...)
Ziska really did surpass herself though ...the shop reckons she'll get to 8' and her last meal was a small rat ...oh boy I do pity burm owners! |

Kelfezond, I don't have your sophisticated photographic equipment or expertise, but there's no need to sneer at my photography; I've always admitted it's lousy. And I'm sick and tired of your nasty little digs - which I don't deserve as I'd always thought we were friends and I really don't understand why you've started to be like this.
Sorry all you others for the rant, but this has been going on for quite some time and I've had enough of it.
Sincerest apologies if I have offended you Bats I've not made any nasty little digs at you I just found it humourous how the photograph was so clear consider it's subject in comparison to some of your others. Have always considered you a friend and quite shocked to see this. Again- my apologies. |

Posted - 26/05/2012 : 20:46:17 Lol - she usually presents me with one a week - but never anything like today's effort ...thought one of the cats had got in there with her ...no, all FOUR cats lol, but even so, I don't encounter that kind of thing in the litter tray ...
Ziska must feel about 6 stones lighter! |

Posted - 26/05/2012 : 19:12:35 Ah, she hasn't 'been' for a week or two, and I did wonder if a shed was coming; checked her before offering a recycled small rat (she's a 5' whopper now) and she was clear and took that rat down pdq, but this morning found the shed - and the chamberpot - a magnificent effort, looks like a HORSE went in there, I think she was proud of it lol. |
