this little fella had fallen from a nest in my garden and has not fully grown his feathers so cant fly properly.
we cant find the nest so i have him in an old hamster cage an will feed him up till he can fly properly.
got him to eat 4 small crickets and hes calmed down a lot now
pretty sure he/she is a house sparrow.
he has water and a bowl of seeds an meal worms in the cage so fingers crossed he keeps eating and survies to be set free hopefully in a few weeks

Unfortunatly it's often the case that the stress is just too much for them. I've tryed to save a rear baby birds before and you think they're doing fine and then they're gone. It's so upsetting 'cause you thought you were doing well.

But you did your best with him and that's the main thing. well done.

yes hopefully he gets strong enough to be set free.
i will try that tomorrow stewy, couldnt leave him in the garden as we have 3 jack russel's in the house so wouldnt have lasted long if they found him

Although he is quite big, I would try him on some scrambled egg and ground up rich tea biscuits. Used to be the best thing for me, when rearing canaries.

I have a soft spot for birds, and used to own 200-300 budgies, canaries and finches in various aviaries.

I think I would have left this little fellow were he was though. The parents still feed and take care of their young for several days after they fledge. Without a doubt the parents would know where he was.

wow good on you.

would be nice if you do let him go when he can fly.
