As per title

My O/H has decided she'd quite like one as a birthday present. I must admit I think they're pretty cute but, what are they like to keep?

Aww, he must like her already : 3
Fezza Posted - 08/08/2012 : 12:12:01
It's a little boy and he's a choc chip (so I'm told) farther was an albino and mother was a chocolate

The farther was beautiful to look at but a right grumpy git, he just balled up as soon as you touched him

The little one is as tame as can be, all the babies were handled from day one. Didn't stop him from pooing on Danielle haha

My mam wants one too but she's put off by their smell and the fact they like to marinade themselves in their wee : /

They do seem very nice though, friendly and fun. And really cute : 3

Congrats : ) Is he/she an albino or coloured? You seem to come across more albinos than coloured ones for some reason.

We're using a big 6' x 2' one at the moment which we'll be switching to a rabbit hutch thing soon :)
Fezza Posted - 07/08/2012 : 17:17:47
We've been recommended to try one of ferplasts indoor rabbit hutch/cage @ about 4ftx2ft

They are lovely to keep! but be warned they do smell a lot for such a small animal! lol
with regular handling they are so friendly and have their own little personalities. Alice is clumsy and cheeky. Shes managed to sneak into her box of meal worm a few times :P Mines a bit picky with food though the only fruit she'll eat is apple. other than that she lives on dry cat food (chicken) and meal worm.

I'd definitely advise a little hog :)
As long as you have enough time to spend handling and they do need quite a bit of cleaning maintenance. But they are so easy to keep :)

I have hedgehogs

They are great fun! With enough handling, they can be really friendly
My last litter was all spoken for before they were 10 weeks old
My cheekiest one is Lemons - she'll sit and cuddle up, then sneakily grab a sleeve or blanket or whatever nearby and try and run away with it!

Mine get cat food as their main diet, with a few fruits and veggies (though they mostly arent too fussed about them) and bugs. They LOVE bugs.

I'll direct Adie here to post since she cares for the Hedgehog not me :)

Arent hedgehogs scavengers? im sure they'll pretty much eat everything. Cat food, dog food, Pinkies, whatever....
reptiledanny Posted - 06/08/2012 : 19:55:28
kelfs got one, he'll be able to help.
but from what i know, they are fed on either a special hedgehog pellets, or on something like cat food. need a heat lamp to help keep them warm, poo alot.
but can be very nice tempered and almost like a mini dog with personalty
