Guys,

I love boiga dendrophila big time.

I would love one as a display animal, but would I be biting off more than I can chew?

I am extreeeeeemely careful person and give animals the respect they deserve so there would be no handling unless absolutely necessary and even then ( I know this would be OTT ) I would probably wear my pond gauntlets that I used to wear for cleaning my lionfish tank.

If you think I'm being stupid what would be a good alternative display rear fanger?

Thanks

if i remember right the racers venom is not as bad as the mangroves but they still need to chew on you to envenomate.
your racer is looking stunning del

badwool Posted - 16/10/2012 : 14:26:22
do you know what kind of vemon it is they have?
Evolution Morphs Posted - 16/10/2012 : 14:22:44
They want to get away from you more than byte you
Unless foods about

If you do get one you want to make sure it's feeding well
As there buggers to get started feeding
badwool Posted - 16/10/2012 : 14:18:45
very nice - how aggressive are they?
Evolution Morphs Posted - 16/10/2012 : 14:04:41

The wife's got a Baroni races
And it's very fast and don't like being handled lol
Wees or poos when you get it out to clean it

It's in a exo arb setup and it's doing well
Very food orientated
And not many about

Care is just like a corn snake

Thanks Chris, will look at the barons racers.

I have this image in my head of a huge exo terra arb setup, planted etc.

mangrove snakes are awesome looking only thing that puts me off is that ive read they can sometimes be difficult to keep alive.
i would try and find a CB one if possible or a WC one thats already an established feeder.
the temperment will depend on the snake but you can hook an tail them fairly easily once their used to the hook.
im still trying to find a boiga nigriceps(black headed cat snake) the venom of these is stronger than the mangrove, my friend has a extremly tame WC one thats fine to free handle but you dont want to try this untill you know what the snake is like hook handling wise.
others to look at are
barons racers(argentinian longnose)
false water cobra
cant think of the others right now
