Yep picked him up saturday but hes in shed at the mo so looks rubbish but got to wait a week now for him to settle in then hes going to want feeding so cant handle him for at least 10 days and then i can get some pics of him for you guys

back on topic though, Danny did you get your Sharp atrain boa this weekend?
Gingerpony Posted - 03/05/2009 : 17:16:58
Dumbo i've tried really hard not to handle due to his feeding issues. i've probably had him out less than half a dozen times in the 2 months (?) that i've had him.
Marilyn might get handled 3 times a week one week, then not the next, once or twice the next week, it's a bit hit and miss really. i don't handle her if i'm feeding anything else that day, as soon as she gets a whiff of something defrosting she's straight out of her hide to see if it's for her!

How many times a week do you handle Dumbo and Marilyn? Should I be handling about as frequently as I do with Sherman? A lot of the caresheets contradict each other when it comes to handling.

since he fed last week he's been ever so active i wasn't going to handle him till he'd had 3 consecutive feeds but he'd tipped over his water bowl yesterday so i picked him up last night while i cleaned out his tub. he's such a sweetie i just didn't have a camera to hand

I've looked into boas and I have read that BCIs are easier to handle than BCCs, a damn sight cheaper too. Apparently BCCs can be quite snappy.

Females can get a lot bigger than males so if your worried about size then go for a male, but as with any large boid, when it's adult, I'd recommend having someone around just incase.

I dont think baby boa's are very big Kaz

But yes, they are quite calm and easy going.
Kazerella Posted - 01/05/2009 : 19:45:59
Depends on the boa, but most commons are quite docile anyway.

What size is it? If it's quite large I wouldn't handle it whilst you are on your own.
