Looking into getting something like a spiny tailed lizard/ackie. Not sure which is the UK name for it? Im after a monitor type lizard to go in a 4x2 max but ideally a 3x2. Any suggestions? The spiny tailed lizard/ackie looks perfect to me but want others opinions!

thanks for all the info! I've been looking at rankins as well. Blue lizard has some in! Hefty price for what's pretty much a beardie though!

Rankins dragons are a slightly smaller version of beardies and would be fine in your 3ft and may be a pair if i remember correctly they aren't solitary like the beardies

Just checked the sites and only one is up to date but are asking £180 for spiny tailed ackies, the other shops usually put stock on Facebook when they get new animals in have a search on Facebook for team reptiles they had some babies in not long ago and try the pet outlet they also have some in. Would you be bothered about wc animals? If not these are stunning and may be ok in 3ft viv this guy has 2 in a 4ft so id think you'd be fine

phlegmatical Posted - 07/09/2013 : 20:11:57
when is the doncaster show? do these shops have websites? I have a work fuel card so traveling doesnt bother me lol
carlb1981 Posted - 07/09/2013 : 20:06:57
Or maybe eastern plated lizards or red eyed crocodile skinks but not sure on price of these. doncaster show should have all these plus ackie monitors if you could make it to that, or if you fancy a travel to newcastle a few shops up here have ackies
carlb1981 Posted - 07/09/2013 : 19:58:35
Ok have you looked at eastern collard lizards? Or skinks? fire skinks are nice
phlegmatical Posted - 07/09/2013 : 19:51:08
yes i have a 3x2x2 viv empty now. I originally said 4x2x2 as I have room ontop of my other viv but decided i dont want to buy another so 3x2x2 is what i have to work with now
carlb1981 Posted - 07/09/2013 : 19:50:31
And yes beardies ideally need a 4ft viv
carlb1981 Posted - 07/09/2013 : 19:45:29
Do you already have the viv?
phlegmatical Posted - 07/09/2013 : 19:04:48
yea i do like beardies but they need 4x2x2 dont they?
JanieW Posted - 07/09/2013 : 18:58:28
Bearded Dragon fits your criteria..most are either too large, too expensive or nocturnal
