Posted - 17/09/2013 : 14:17:35 I'm preparing my viv for hopefully an ackie this Sunday. I've decided to go for a sand/soil mix for substrate. I've got the play sand but wondering about the soil and where to go. I'm thinking the cheap 1.20 bag of compost from b&q as it's cheap they wouldnt spend money on putting additives and fertilizer in? Only a theory as it has no ingredients on the bag! |

Posted - 17/09/2013 : 17:37:36 think it was just labeled as top soil but just had a look an cant see it on the b&q site so may be out of stock.
the bosc was my mum's and it was looking like we would be moving into separate flat's where she wouldn't have been able to take him due to the weight of the enclosure so zeus went back to his previous owner as he had sorted out his money problem's so could afford to keep him again |

Posted - 17/09/2013 : 14:47:15 I was going to mix it 1 part sand 2 parts soil as that's what keeps coming up when I was researching but nobody seems to say what sort of soil they use. I'll just get the cheap one and sieve it then |

Posted - 17/09/2013 : 14:45:37 Was it just labelled as top soil or multi purpose? Why did you get rid of your bosc? I'd love one of them but don't have the room |

Posted - 17/09/2013 : 14:45:18 Should be fine :P I normally buy organic stuff, then you no it has nothing in it.Guess it depends how your using the soil.If its peat based and will get wet,it might clump together making cleaning harder. |
