Hi every 1 i took these guys in a couple of weeks ago a long story short they were being realy neglected and not cared for properly so i said id take them and try get them back up to weight and new homes now 1 is a female salmon hypo and the other is just a common male bci the female salmon has taken 2 feeds nicely now she is a tad under weight but she will gain nicely eating medium rats weekly :) but the male is pretty badly under weight i left them both a week to settle before i tried to feed with no luck with the male i tried agian tonight with no luck again so is there any thing else i could try to get him to eat i have contacted the nearest reptile vet (80 miles away) and they gave me a few things to check that all checked out ok so is there any other food i could offer other than rats to try get him to eat he is to small for ginnie pigs or rabits and to large for mice :/

All help will be greatly appreciated :)

Well i have have good news on these 2 the female is good and ready to go to her new forever home next week and ive decided to keep the male i have grown quite attatched to the old chap as ive felt so sorry for him for being so underweight and he is a friendly old boy and loves to hang out quite happy round my neck he has taken 2 small rats over the last week or so fair enough they are a bit small for him but hopefully its a start and he will keep going and growing on to the size he should be :) im going to keep feeding him every 5 days or so till he starts gaining weight agian :) and gonna try him on a medium rat next as he should realy be taking large or evan XL rats so i hope he starts to pile on the pounds :) il get some pics of the pair of them and il upload some maybe tomorow night :)

Thank you guys now as i said i am not keeping them perminantly just to get them back to feeding and being handled then find them new homes where im confident they will get the care and attention they deserve the female can be a bit viv defensive but is fine once she is out (a snake hook is my best friend there) so going to try calm her down a bit aswell :) not realy handled the male yet i want to leve him till i know he is feeding before i handle him as it could possibly stress him out and put him more off food as both of them were never realy used to being handled :(

Thanks for the tips il try scenting with the tuna brine if that doesnt work il pop into my local butcher's and se if i can get a quail to try him on i have a few gerbils in the freezer would they be ok to try ? They worked a treat to get my royals feeding response back :)

Hat off to you for taking them in, I would do as chrisc has said or you could also try a multi & see if that works. I know it sometimes works for Royals. Good luck

well done for taking them on mate.
could try scenting the rat's with chick blood or tuna brine that might work
chick's may tempt him to eat although i guessing a bit small but worth a try unless you can get small quail locally to try him on
