Hi,

Just thought I'd post some pics of my Ultramel Anery Cornsnake.

I was weighing Maple tonight so thought I'd snap a couple of pics. He is now 153g and pretty much fills the small snake cave.

Uh, well ... long story!

Truth is, at the moment it's chaos, because I got a bulk delivery of mice a while back. Beautiful quality, but you know how different shops have different names for sizes ... I accidentally ordered mice that were too small, so the corns are doubling and even trebling up, apart from little Cy, who eats a small fuzzy. I haven't weighed them but I reckon Buffy and Saffron, who are 3'+, ought to be on a medium mouse per week, and the 2-3' Spider and Spooky ought to be on a small mouse. But Saffy doesn't like the right size mouse and prefers smaller sizes...Also, when Spooky and Cy were on pinkies, they went on hunger strike and said they wanted a mouse with fur on, like the Big Snakes were having ... oh boy, scrabbling round for the world's smallest fuzzy!

Shahi, the royal, has just grown out of medium mice, and I only have one left (been making up the right meal weight with a smaller mouse.) Next week I'm buying one rat too see if he'll accept it, and as soon as I'm sure, I'll be getting another delivery of rodents and regularising the position, as far as I can with my awkward lot!

LOL - bet you wish you'd never asked!

Love the name Maple, by the way, that's perfect.

That's a nice sized corn. What age is he? You got a pic of him?

They are greedy and will usually eat what's put in front of them. My 700g male only gets 1 XL mouse a fortnight.

OOps, Deadmansfinger, sorry - I see it says in your sig that the corn's a male ...

If he reads what I've said about him he's going to be feeling VERY lavender!

(Sorry, old chap, I meant to say that you're a very handsome, macho ultramel, and the girly stuff was for Spooky ...)

He's used to it. When I got him I was told he was a female and as such he was referred to this way until I got him probed a couple of months ago and it turns out she was a he

LOL - when I got Buffy she was only a little bootlace so I had to wait for probing. I said, that snake is definitely a male - he's growing twice as fast as the others, he's a gannet for his food, and when he goes he stinks the place out! (Sorry, guys!)

Then came probing day. A girl???? All I can say is, she's not very ladylike ... Love her though.

Hey I am very sure. They do look like ghosts but Ultramel Anerys have lovely ruby red eyes

You could also say, how sure am I that Spooky's a ghost? When I first met her, one of the shop assistants told me she was a lavender! but when I went back later another assistant said she was a ghost. (Well, she'd been haunting me ...)

ps I'm useless at morphs, but I'm pretty sure that lavenders have ruby eyes; Spooky has dark eyes. However my corn snake book, the one by the Bartletts, published by Barrons, has a picture of a lavender, with dark eyes ...

The thick plottens ...

She's - I believe she's a she, yes? - really beautiful. I do love that doe-eyed demure look of corn girls - little madams! I usually prefer the dark or richly coloured snakes, like normal royals or Carolina corns but these dilute morphs do have a charm of their own. I'm not well up on morphs, but my ghost corn, my 'Spooky little girl', is exactly like your ultramel anery.

Whatever they are, they're all gorgeous!
