So, I'm going to hopfully be getting a pair of Beardies either next month or the one after. I've always wanted lizards but never had the space/knowledge to keep any. I've been reading about them since before Christmas, reading the same things over and over. But if Tig has taught me anything it's that genreal information isn't always all you need. So I figured it might be a good idea to join another forum, one more for lizards, so I can learn from people who actually keep them, and so hopfully getting the best idea on how to look after them. So I've been hovering around on Reptilian for a little while now, spying 'n' stuff, you know? ; ) It seems a nice place, very like here, people seem friendly... and pateint, patient is always good with me! I've also noticed a lot of people on here are also on there. Hai!

It would also be a good place for me to talk about my Giant Snails and Indian Stick Insects I think.

I suppose what I'd like to know is what are your experiences? Is it as nice as it seems? Are peoples friendly like here? It seems a bit less full than here, do people reply quick or does it take time?

With me being Anthropophobic it's very hard for me to take the leap without someone pushing-I mean encouraging me... ; )

Glad to hear it's been sorted for you have fun lol
BlueDragon Posted - 24/03/2011 : 10:45:50
I've been registered into the forum for me, so I'm now finally a member. Haven't introduced myself yet, will do that over the weekend, but I'm hoping I can actually post...

Yeah, I've been hovering around and reading all the threads. Some interesting stuff. Yet to get to know all the different phases/morphs and their names, but that's not important.

Yes, still tempted to join Reptillian as well : )
reptilemadd Posted - 23/03/2011 : 14:21:19
Really sorry for all the messing blue I have a normal e-mail account (never heard of this g-mail) so I never had any problem joining can you read the posts without joining cuase to be honest any questions you might have will probably have been asked before, not Ideal I know but it's as they say a start meanwhile I'm sure the reptilian will be able to offer excellent advise and insights...
BlueDragon Posted - 23/03/2011 : 10:58:07
That's OK : )

So, got another e-mail back, turns out it was just a mistake and they said they'd fixed it, but it still won't let me register 'cause it won't let me have my e-mail address, despite saying they'd blocked the ban with gmail : /

They said they could register for me though, so I'm just going to have to wait and see... again.
GMac Posted - 22/03/2011 : 12:15:22
I wasnt suggesting anyone was saying its bad, i was just inferring its really not all that bad quiet yes but some good info, apologies if anyone thought different.
BlueDragon Posted - 22/03/2011 : 10:57:10
Oh, I wasn't saying anything was bad about reptillian at all. It's the first forum I asked about 'cause I thought it would be good and was just wanting people's opinions. The reason I ask about other forums is just 'cause maybe it might be better to join one that is more beardie-spercific is all. I actually might still join Reptillian anyway.

So, after e-mailing back and mentioning that the mybeardeddragons forum was actually recomended to me by someone, and isn't it a shame they won't let me join I got another e-mail back. He has temporeraly lifted the ban for me to join. That's very nice of him (well, I think he's being nice, but I'm still not sure I want to join now), but the registration page isn't showing a comfirmation code, so I can't join anyway. So I've sent another e-mail explaining that and we'll just have to see what happens.

This is turning out to be more of a pain than raising a puppy! : /

I could be wrong here GMaC but I don't think anyone has said that there is anything wrong with the reptilian, BlueDragon was just asking for options
GMac Posted - 22/03/2011 : 00:05:47
there is nothing wrong with the rept, there are loads of beardie owners on there

Oh really, that's silly isn't it?

Have you tried RFUK (though not my cup of tea on the snake side, must admit ...)
reptilemadd Posted - 21/03/2011 : 09:42:37
I'm really sorry to hear that blue I don't know of anyothers apart from reptilian so go join and have fun lol and I'm always here as a last resort lol
BlueDragon Posted - 21/03/2011 : 09:37:02
Just very quickly, before I go out. Unfortunatly they won't let me join. They say they have banned anyone with a gmail e-mail account from joining, 'cause they might be a spammer. I do understand this, but I'm dissapointed that I'm being judged purely by what e-mail account I have. I've just replied back and said it's a shame 'cause they were actually recomended to me by you, reptilemadd (have mentioned no usernames or this or any other site/forum).

Do you happen to know of any other forum I could join that are more suited to beardies, or would it be an idea to join reptilian?

Thanks for all your ongoing help : )
reptilemadd Posted - 20/03/2011 : 13:50:41
Good luck they are a friendly bunch but like any forum there are one or two that can be a little abrupt but on the hole nice bunch of people
BlueDragon Posted - 20/03/2011 : 12:58:25
I've e-mailed someone over at mybeardeddragons about registering there. I had to do that first 'cause they won't accept me otherwise 'cause I have a gmail e-mail account and apparently they don't like them : / No word back yet though, so I'm just waiting to see what they say...

LOL - the mind boggles!

People like that should stick to handbags - at least they can rehome them to Oxfam ...
BlueDragon Posted - 19/03/2011 : 11:05:16
I didn't know about that, but I agree that it might not turn out to be such a good thing if people catch on with the 'trend'. I hate that. People buying animals purely to look good or feel fashionable >: (

LOL I will, but it might take me a while and I'll have to ask Royalbob or GMac to post pics for me as photobucket won't oblige, grr!

Hey, you probably know this, but I've just seen a news item about the Beckhams buying a beardie for their eldest son. I'm pleased that the lad's being given a chance to get into reptiles, may counterbalance the artificial life of the 'celebrity' child, but the notion that loads of other glamour-stricken parents will see beardies as the latest pet for their kiddiwinkies, that's not so good ...

To blue It's just the background It's the sort you use for fish tanks lol

To BATS forgot to say don't forget to post some pic's of the new stack that you saved on (because I'm good lol)
BlueDragon Posted - 18/03/2011 : 10:16:16
Thanks for the photos reptilemadd, photos always help : )

It was just a very quick look to find the basking lights, so I'll have a proper look and will probably find a one with a screw fitting.

Blue light isn't as bad, it looks more natural than red does.

Is that just the background that looks shinny and plastic-like, or do you have something over it?

Might have a go at joining up somewhere over the weekend, I've got more time then : )
