So I pick up my new boa tomorrow (yay)
Now it's a long drive (4 hours if the traffic sucks, 3if its nice) and she's going to be in a snake bag in a rather vibratingish (is that a word? Bumpy more like) van, the heating isn't a problem as we use the van (mini bus actually) to ferry old folks to supermarkets and back (aren't we kind) so the heating pumps out sickly amounts to keep them warm in winter. I'm worried about all the shaking and bumping from the engine though.
Any ideas how I can reduce stress for her or should I not worry too much?

She sounds quite something, that boa - bet she can whip your specs off no trouble lol!
Congrats can't wait for pics - bet you can't sleep tonight, prowling around admiring boa (well I still get up to see if new tiddler corn's awake to rattle her tail at me, bless her!)
Again congrats, congrats ... |

Posted - 25/03/2011 : 21:42:16 I return from work and am absolutely chuffed with the boa, she's pushing around a giant water tank at the moment which took two of us to lift it into the viv, she's so strong! amazing!
Pics to come soon! |

Posted - 25/03/2011 : 09:15:24 Twent mins from wolver now, got a big cardboard box and a pillow inside, shredded a bunch of newspaper in the duvet cover to use as snake bag and will put bag in box, box in lap. Was a good drive no traffic at all shame I got up so early, 5am is nasty.

Posted - 24/03/2011 : 21:16:45 Good news, I had a funny feeling after 4 hours driving she was going to be incredibly angry and after persuading everyone she wouldn't eat the children I'd get her out only to have her swollow my hand lol |

Posted - 24/03/2011 : 21:11:35 I think she will be fine, I traveled with Florence on my wrist while hubby was driving and she was just chilled all the way. Then when i got Boris, hubby driving again, we did about 1 1/2hrs with him in his viv in the back of an estate car and he didn't even pop his head out!
They are remarkably tolerant to the things we think they shouldn't be tolerant of!
The other thing i have noticed is that the bigger the beast the less they worry! that goes for any animal in my house at least! |

Posted - 24/03/2011 : 19:40:52 right ....o..k...then...
Sleeping bag! Cradled in passenger's arms.
Only have boa bag firmly done up.
Yesterday I had to take Spooky and Spider to be re-probed as girls (they are) and they BOTH managed to ooze out through the tops of their carrying bags (luckily the polybox was secure.)
If the boa peers out of the sleeping bag while paused at traffic lights, you're going to cause a pile-up! |

Don't you mean duvet cover??
There you are!
Sit her on a folded up duvet! Or two!
Are you buying her set-up as well? Got the impression you were, if so, put a thick duvet padding in bottom of enclosure, put boa in boa-bag on top of duvet ... she won't fuss half as much as you will.
Erm, you should have seen me, bringing home a tiny corn on the bus for 1 and a half hours ...
Again, happy boa-day! |
