Posted - 21/12/2011 : 00:31:36 Just keeled over on Sunday, think it was possibly the start of a moult that went very wrong as the abdomen appears totally deflated. I also have a small worry the tub was too humid so possibly I was the cause. Will be re-checking the setup and making a few changes to ventilation before getting myself a new Tarantula.
So bye bye Betty. |

Posted - 22/12/2011 : 19:41:54 It is common for them to die if a moult goes wrong or lose a leg or 2, it appears that the carapace (plate like bit where the eye are) never split and it got stuck in its own head, the abdomen was totally empty, a very strange thing but it was very sudden I saw the struggle happening but couldn't do anything, I left her an hour and came back and she was dead. Onward and upward though, no point dwelling (see new post re Sam) |

Posted - 21/12/2011 : 12:55:03 Thanks guys and girls, it is just one of those things and I knew it was always a possibility that I'd lose one of them to a bad moult. It's a shame but i will just try again. Will let you know when the next bitey thing arrives. |
