Posted - 27/12/2011 : 15:48:37 Well, this little guy is still as well behaved and sociable as ever. His first meal he refused, as he was more interested in coming out to see me; even when I left him alone with his mouse, he waited for me to come back. I left it in overnight with him, but no. Early days. All he wanted, he said, was armchair walkies. A reproachful little face greeted me every time I went near his viv, earning him the nickname of 'the lonesome pine'- damn that tune, it's been going through my head for days now!
His second mouse he took, no fussing, in typical pit style. Strike, grab and down the hatch. Pits don't mess about although nowadays Ziska likes to have her meal left in her viv so that she can eat it overnight. Ziska, I have to say, is extra moody and mardy these days and I wonder if it's mating season blues. It's tempting to think of putting her and Shadrach together in a year's time ...pits can be cross-bred. What on earth would they produce? Pingophers? Gopherpins? Shaziskas?
But that isn't to be thought of for a long while. If she met him at the moment she'd probably eat him.
Here he is, enjoying some counterpane walkies.
Thanks for looking. |

Posted - 27/12/2011 : 20:22:33 Boas are not slightly bashful. Sanke ny Boa will take the mouse, tongs and left arm with her strikes. I timed it at 0.07 seconds from rest to a good grip on Mickey. |

"from what I hear about boas, he won't be bashful!"
