I have my heat mat inside with a bit of foliage stuck over it. its controlled by a mat-stat. I occasionally see Harley giving it a hug if its really cold but most the time he is some place else.
Evolution Morphs Posted - 12/01/2012 : 20:28:16
I use a heat mat with pulse thermostat
And I have only my fake plants stuck at the top of the heat mat

So heat mat out side the glass and fake plants inside covering the heat mat

cheers will order some repashy now,the house gets cold at night, what do you use to heat yours.
Lotabob Posted - 12/01/2012 : 19:42:19
Tiz true, it smells good enough to eat so I did. Not too bad but wont be doing it again.
Evolution Morphs Posted - 12/01/2012 : 19:05:39
It won't create air temp but will provide a hot spot for them to keep there body temp up

They like between 18/28 c temps

Will your house get colder than 18c if not then heat is not required but for just In case it does with the colder weather coming best have a stated heat source set up for 18/20c to kick in if it drops low

If you smell the Komodo food then the repashy
And you had to choose what one you would eat then you would go for the repashy
We had the Komodo as our to breeding pair were on that to start with when we got them and it doesn't smell of any thing
Where as the repashy smells lovely and fruity

Ask bob he has tryed some ;) lol

Hi i am going to put kitchen towel on bottom of viv,for the first few monthes untill bigger.and use heat mat on wall as main heat source with uv light on.Whould that create enough air temp.have you used the komodo crested food.

For the calci dust
Maybe pick it up from your local pet shop

Or Surrey pets online store
Very cheap and there's service has really improved there p&p is £3.99 but if you order lots it's well worth it

As for repashy I use to order it in a big bag from the states but

For a 4oz bag or 8oz bag it's best to buy from the uk
Stickyfeet.co.uk
is the best place to buy repashy from in the uk
Also it's the only food you need to give them if you like
It's a complete crested gecko diet

http://www.stickyfeet.co.uk/FoodsDry.html
You want the Just add water original £8.99 for the 4oz or £12.99 for the 8oz

They also like blended fruits (google which are ok)

Ask the seller what there feeding on now and you will have to start feeding them
with that and start slowly mixing repashy in it
Say add 10%repashy to 90% what there feeding on
Then keep upping there % of repashy
Till its 100% repashy

Don't know if the UVB bulb will give enough heat what watts is it
I haven't has a UVB bulb for my cresties
I do have one for the beardie tho and that's 14 watt stripe light and that don't get very hot

There will be 2 slots for bulbs I think with the exo canopy so you will beable to add another heat source

jimmer7 Posted - 12/01/2012 : 18:03:13
Hi where do you get that food from(repashy),and will a uv bulb give out much hest. sorry about all the question, just want to get it right for her.
Evolution Morphs Posted - 12/01/2012 : 16:51:44
use kitchen roll paper if there babies to start with (up to you)
impaction is a killer to small lizards if they swallow to much

eco earth has coconut husk in and fine dirt / earth
so the stuff your on about sounds fine

like you say uv aint going to hurt but its not needed
they will get the vitamin D3 which can be supplemented in the diet

as to females so hard to tell as babies
so posts on the internet say you can look for the pores
but i think its really hard to tell also i can see trying to hold a crestie upside down and look right near ts tell its not going to like it lol

2 females will live fine together not males

also its best to have cresties of near enough the same size if living together

id recommend repashy orgnial for food
depending on what there eating now of course

and dusting crickets with vetark calci-dust
jimmer7 Posted - 12/01/2012 : 16:41:00
cheers,i was told they need a little uv when there babies,if i use it would it harm them.also the substrate is fine coconut husk ground down good at holding moisture.(well thats what the shop told me?),I would like to get her 2 but i am bit worried as you cant sex young ones.I like to try and get 2 females if possible.
Evolution Morphs Posted - 12/01/2012 : 16:24:18
id go for eco earth if there sub/adult or just stick with kitchen rolls if there babies
both will hold humidity ok

crested geckos dont need uv bulbs as well and light will do 40/60 watt

the rest sounds spot on

my heat mats were on the side wall out side the tank
if there cold they will go to it also some nice fake plants stuck above where the heat mat is that will get them to sleep where the heat mat is

Edit : **seeing that you have a bulb a heat mate on the bottom will be good at raising the humidity and keep the ground warm they will like it as they will have to go down for food***

i also hot glue gunned the prob on where the heat mat was but inside the tank

this is what i do and worked for me others may do things different
jimmer7 Posted - 12/01/2012 : 16:13:02
hi just ordered a 60x45x60 exo terra viv, hood with 5.0uv bulb,20watt heat mat, couple of jungle vines and plants, kritters crumble substrate, got mat stat and digi temp+humidity,is there anything else you think i might need,I want to get it all set up as its a present for the wife, getting it set up at friends house, ready for her birthday.also do heat mat go under tank or on side wall, and should i put the prob on the mat or just off of it. cheers any info welcome..
Laws Posted - 11/01/2012 : 22:13:19
i mainly use this uv one to slightly bump the ambient air temp as my house is colder in the day with no heating on when we are at work . but i switch it off when im back home as the heatings straight on :)
Vinny Posted - 11/01/2012 : 19:14:56
Ok thanks, I have a canopy for mine, I'm thinking of using a heat may and may also put a low wattagenight lamp on also just for a few hours so I can see what they are upto.
Laws Posted - 11/01/2012 : 17:47:07
They are the repti glo ones , one is a nite glo and one is a uv one but it came with it when I brought the gecko off someone . I do have heat mats for the two big ones as i dont leave the nite.light on
Vinny Posted - 11/01/2012 : 16:04:15
The bulbs you have in the canopies are they the only form of heating you use? Are they uv bulbs or just household bulbs?
Laws Posted - 10/01/2012 : 21:58:33
Im using the glass exo terra ones , i have the canopies that u can add all manor of lights , however just use the low wattage ones , like 25 w or less as u dont really need heat and cresties do just aswel without uv . i have three sizes , a 45x45x45 cube , 45x45x60 and a 30x30x45

The above is a 45 cube for one female cresty

This is the big one that can house up to three adults

this is the baby tank that did hold my three little ones , however i have since split them all up as i dont want fighting to start so it just houses one baby now .

Cresties are great :)
Vinny Posted - 10/01/2012 : 20:36:46
