My girlfriends 7 month old snow corn has a slight dark patch on her side bout 2inches down from her head, does this sound like it could be a burn? I'm sorry I can't give you anymore info than that, she's just a little worried about her.

If he had the green blotches then it probably was. It just happens to some unlucky snakes, nothing can stop it and it isn't caused by anything

He was only 18months old :( i couldn't have afforded to have a post mortem done :(
jbarlow91 Posted - 14/02/2012 : 19:07:07
Might of been. its more common in young corns tho don't think its very common in adults it is always fatal tho but only way to find out for definate would of been a post mortum

I know it sounds horrible but when i found my first corn snake dead he was all green near his mouth and on parts of his body, do you reckon that was a ruptured gall bladder? I've always wanted to know why he died...

Yeah its more than one patch and they're a dark greyish black colour, like in that photo ^^

U can see through baby snow corns skin lol sometimes u can see through the top of them aswell in right light if there is more than one and they are black then sounds normal. If it was just one and it is green could be a problem tho cause might mean a ruptured gall bladder but thank god it sounds like urs is fine

Thanks :D

It certainly sounds like it to me. I wish I could get a pic of Shadrach to show you but have the same problem with him wriggling. I had my ghost corn, Spooky, from a tiny hatchling but can't remember if I saw the same thing with her.

Any worries, you could always ask the shop, but it does sound normal to me. Perhaps there is someone on here who's also got a small corn, or who's bred snow corns and can confirm it, or you could try posting on TCS, there are plenty of breeders on there and they're helpful.

All the best with her.

Sorry i should have tried being clearer, by side i meant like right near her belly i cant really describe it but it she has that on her actually belly aswell... So it is just like her organs and that?
n/a Posted - 14/02/2012 : 16:24:16
Ah, you mean on her belly? Sorry I was thinking you meant her side ...yes, that is just like Shadrach's belly, as long as her scales are nice and normal and 'slippery', she's fine I reckon. Know what you mean, at that age they're into everything. Bless her!
austin_89 Posted - 14/02/2012 : 16:17:51
Its impossible getting a pic of her, she just doesnt stop moving! She actually fell of the bed earlier she was squirming that much! I've googled some pictures that it looks like, sorry but this is the best pic i can find...

She's got a couple of em a little bigger than that...

I don't know, tbh, but when I handle Shadrach, who's the same age, I can see some of his organs through his white belly scales. I know snow corns are like little pink worms at that age so it could well be that her skin's transparent (I got my snow stripe as a young adult so don't know what a young one looks like close-up.)Is it possible to get a pic of her?
austin_89 Posted - 14/02/2012 : 16:01:59
I googled it too and cause there is more one and their not that dark it could be cause snow corns are kinda see through as babies and its just their organs??

I googled this -

Is there anything in her cage that could have burned her? If in any doubt could be a good idea to let a vet look at her. All the very best with her and do hope it's something minor.
