Posted - 02/05/2012 : 14:24:46 The pet shop down the road from me is selling a 5ft female red tail boa for £340- does this sound about right? The shop is notorious for giving out wrong information and getting things wrong so I thought I'd ask on here.
Also she's labelled as a ruby red salmon tailed boa, I've only ever heard of just red tails, has anyone ever heard if this or is it all wrong? |

Posted - 02/05/2012 : 21:46:08 Damn! she's a big girl... I've noticed in bet shops that all their burms and retics don't have hides aswell, maybe they feel at that size they don't need to hide! Lol |

Posted - 02/05/2012 : 21:35:10 Pandora is about 16kg now and just tipping 8ft. I've found the bigger they get the less they care about a hide |

Posted - 02/05/2012 : 21:31:26 its not so much the length, she will get between 5-6ft. its her girth, looking at the dame she will be too big for the x large hides i use |

Posted - 02/05/2012 : 21:16:37 From what I've seen of pandora she's a lot bigger than this one so they should be able to get a hide for her shouldnt they? You'd think they'd make hides for bigger snakes.
What is pandora weighing in at now? |

the hide situation concerns me when grace is fully grown, hopefully i will be able to find some big pieces of bark when the time comes |

Posted - 02/05/2012 : 18:28:43 From what I've found from googling it she is a red tail boa but i cant be sure, the red tails on google are more of a silver colour than the commons... But again i dont know enough about boas.
I'll google them aswell |

Posted - 02/05/2012 : 17:58:08 a lot of shops will label a common as a red tale, due to the red tale, this way they can get more money for it. a shop i go to from time to time do this, i pulled them up on it one day asking if it was a true red tale and what localitie it was, they just said its a red tale due to the tale lol.
i think the only way to know for sure would be to do a scale count, i don't know the ins and outs of it. or post on the dark side asking the people who keep different localities for info.
if you fancy a boa that doesn't get too big how about a sonoran dwarf boa, males tend to get between 4-5ft and not much chunkyer than a royal |

Posted - 02/05/2012 : 17:54:05 It would take a while to save up for her but i might talk a walk down there tomorrow for her to meet her! Lol
