Heres my idea for a cheap 6 tub rack which I eventually hope to fill with royals. Do you guys think this would work, any tips or suggestions.

I'm thinking this storage rack would be perfect.

http://www.woolworths.co.uk/six-drawer-storage-cabinet/372380582.prd?cmtag=o&_requestid=183038&browseToken=/q/tm952&totalResults=1

The tubs measure 39x28x19cm so should be good for a hatchling for a couple of years. The overall height of the rack is 129cm so im thinking a 120x28cm heatmat that would virtually cover the entire back of the unit would be perfect.

With a suitable thermostat and 6 digital thermometers the price is around £90, how does that compare to prices for other similar setups and do you think it would work?

Thanks Kelf, I'm happy with it. I'm planning on adding 2 hatchlings each year so it will be full soon enough. I've got M Spider and F Pastel on the way and I'm already planning what to get next year. Royals are definitely addictive!

Very impressive

Here you are. I've only got 2 tubs set up for now ready for a Spider and Pastel in a couple of weeks and during a trial run without a stat I've had a hotspot of 36C and ambient of 26C. All duct tape is carefully positioned so the snakes cannot get at it!!!

With my 2 1/2 foot 450G female so you can get an idea of size.

Yes a pulse stat is best.

Thanks for the advice, I've had to add a sheet of perspex to the bottom of each shelf to close a few little gaps but other than that it's perfect.

Under each tub I've put a 7W heat mat which covers about 1/3RD of the floor space. Any advice on what Thermostat would be best, would this be suitable?

You can build your own cheaply with MDF, heat mats and RUBS and 1 pulse stat.

You could probably snake some heat cable around under each tub

the heat would need to be under the snake, mats are contact heaters so if it was attached to the back the snake wont be able to warm up
