hi guys im a new keeper ive just had my royal for two weeks tomorrow the guy in the pet shop said i was to feed her on tue i got her on the friday but left her till the sat to feed her as to give her time to settle into her new home she fed fine but the day after i got her she had a poo it was brown with a few yellow spots at the end of it im thinking its urine well snake urine cant remember the word u guys call it  but as i said i have fed her on sat but shes not been to the toilet yet am i being silly as shes not been for 5 days yet im going to feed her again on sat or shall i leave the feed till shes been to the toilet or just feed her as normal

Ahh yes they are holders alright, my corn will poop once a week, my Boa once a month, my Royal; twice a year lol.
(Dont rely on urates as an indicator of hydration though, urates are waste products filtered from the blood, the fluid is removed out of it and reused in a quite efficient manner leaving behind the white(ish) mass of crystals. Even a dehydrated snake will pass urates. A snake carrying excess fluid will release it wee wee style and oh boy is that a mess. It is almost impossible for a Royal that is eating to become dehydrated but if they stop eating you watch for dehydration with the skin pinch test and their eyes can also sink in too). |

^ What acd said. No silly questions. :) Also agree on the more frequent passing of urates (the chalky white/yellow stuff)...which is a good sign your Royal is well hydrated. ;) |

they usually will wee more often. Expect a big poo when she sheds.

Thx I should have used google first to look it seems like Im asking silly questions lol temps are all good 32.5 hot side cold side is about 22.5 cold side goes up and down I'm going to add some kingspan under the viv to bring the cold side up some more

Royals don't defecate as frequently as other types of snakes. Often they will go for quite a while between poos (though length may vary greatly due to age differences). Also, if your setup is spot on for temps/humidity, you don't have much to worry about. :) I would go ahead and feed as normal. Only time I'd be concerned is if she didn't poo for a very long time and was suddenly refusing to eat. |
