Posted - 01/10/2012 : 16:58:18 Hi everyone, today i bought myself a lovely female royal python, i bring her home once ive got everything set up. Obviously I have a few questions. First of all will I need to drop the temp at night slightly or just leave it the same? Heres a list of the things that I have already got/ordered:
VivExotic LX36 Wooden Vivarium Waterbowl, Various hides and foliage etc Beech chips Digital Hygrometer 2 Digital thermometers 100w infrared bulb Dimming stat (is broken but is being sent back to habistat for a replacement) Vivarium wedges
I think thats everything i've got, so am i right in thinking all i need now is a bulb guard and bulb holder? Can anybody recommend a particular brand? I'm unsure on what kind of bulb holder I need, and once I have it i'm unsure of how to fix it into the viv. Sorry if they sound like silly questions, the only snake I have atm is a corn and he just has a heat mat so bulbs and fittings are alien to me lol.
Thanks in advance

Posted - 05/10/2012 : 08:43:45 It's not too bad having one that doesn't open at the bottom, because the bulbs seem to last quite a while. But I always have a lot of trouble changing the bulb and unscrewing the guard.. but I think I've only had to do it four times in 3 years.. so it's not that bad haha :) |

Posted - 04/10/2012 : 20:31:01 Yea defs get one with a bottom that opens. I have one of each, and its a nightmare having to unscrew it all just to change the bulb. I got mines on ebay for around £10, good quality too. |

Posted - 04/10/2012 : 17:12:17 One thing I'd say about the bulb guard, see if you can get one that opens at the bottom. That way if you need to change the bulb you don't have to mess about unscrewing it from the top of the viv as I've found it can be a bit awkward.. :) |

Posted - 03/10/2012 : 22:45:15 you can drill a hole in the roof or drill a hole at the top of the back wall i put them through the back so i can put another viv on top. heres some pics of how ive done it this should be the right link to my viv wires album http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150709849964644.419417.623879643&type=3 i now use those plastic n shaped things with a nail in them to fix the wires to the roof, same things you can see holding the wires to the back of the viv |

Posted - 03/10/2012 : 20:53:26 awsome, all ordered thanku for the advice. When fixing the bulb holder to the viv am i going to have to drill a little hole in the top for the wire to go through? Theres holes in it already but they are only just big enough for the probes of the stat and thermometers. |
