Monty is getting on for 2 years old and he has never missed a feed! However the last 2 weeks he hasn't taken his rat and doesn't seem interested! So what time of year do royals fast and when they are fasting how often do you other them food?

As already stated they all have different fasting periods. Most will tend not to eat at this time of the year if they are sexually mature generally when they are two years old or more. I had a female last year go for nearly 10 months without a feed, just keep the temps right and the water fresh and try every couple of weeks, so long as they don't lose any significant weight they will be fine, the longest recorded fast for a royal was just over two years !!

Each snake starts fasting at different times and it's around this time of year. I tend to still offer weekly but others offer every couple of weeks or so.
