36" x 15" x 18" wooden viv.
Cool side temps (in hide) 24-26'c
Warm side (in hide) 32'c
Air temp (taken 1/3 from warm end) 28-30'c

Heat mat under warm hide (floor temps 33'c)
I.R heat bulb above warm hide

Humidity not sorted yet... 10-40% unless i spray 10+ times a day. after spraying it peaks at 60-70 then drops within a hour (i know heat bulb is to blame). But never had a bad shed yet.

Does this sound like a good set up? My Royals gone off food again this winter and just wanna make sure i got his environment perfect.

*All heat is running on stats and measure with digi probes aswell

How big is he?
BenjiBoo Posted - 16/12/2012 : 19:50:14
Well at least my minds at ease with the temps, He hasn't eaten for nearly 2 months, just ignores food completely! He's only lost 5grams though so im not worrying too much :)

Good stuff

It's good to know that the digitals are pretty accurate

Digi thermometers with probes, picked em up cheap from a garden center.
Compared the temp readings with a laser temp gun and there spot on :)

Ok, well the 150w will be in the viv tomorrow so ill be keeping a eye on the temps in his warm hide, make sure everything is coolio :)
richard v Posted - 16/12/2012 : 18:59:18
Well see you may be surprised how much this changes the temps, 15-18 does seem a little low however maybe turn your heating up in the house a little can help loads.
BenjiBoo Posted - 16/12/2012 : 18:54:14
Yeah i know, heat mat is just for a bit of belly heat otherwise ground temp in warm hide is 26'c. temps are taken from the ground in each hide and about 1/3 from the warm end. I have a 100w I.R bult at the moment but swapping that for a 150w tomorrow as its on nearly full power according to the stat.
richard v Posted - 16/12/2012 : 18:46:17
What watt heat lamp are you using ? The cold end really is altered by room temperature as well if you use s 150watt bulb or or ceramic should temp fine, where have you put thd temp probes? Also should have said heat mats really don't do much for the ambient air temp.

Humidity is fairly irelevant in general if your animal is having good sheds that's proof enough that everything is ok

I have thought of this but the heat bulb *NEEDS* to be on, or the cold side hovers around 15-18'c.... and if i only have the bulb running, and no mat, then the floor temps in the warm hide wont go above 26'c
richard v Posted - 16/12/2012 : 18:29:55
Yeah sounds fine, don't really need two heat sources though just keep the bulb, just make sure you have a minimum of 100watt I use 150 hold temps fine, really only need to worry about humidity during shedding.
