Hi,
Those of you that read my introduction in the introductions section will know that my buzz was refusing to feed since I had him. Last wednesday i was told to take him in to the breeder/seller who had a look at him. He was just clearing his face was then starting to shed. The breeder agreed it was more than likely the fact that he was coming up to a shed and he was the best feeder of all the hatchlings. he said to take him away and try him in a week and if he hadn't eaten then to take him back and would have to try and get something down him first by trying different methods or trying an assist feed as a last resort they were a bit concerned as he was looking pretty skinny and is a young snake.
Well the last couple of days I have noticed a few differences with him, he was out and about more and not hiding away much, I opened the lid last evening and he came out and slithered over to my on the bed and went through my hands. Then tonight which is a week since I last tried to feed him he started to open his mouth when i removed his water bowl for a clean. I put him on some kitchen towel on the bed with the lights off and when i put the mouse near him he opened his mouth again i edged the mouse in his open mouth slightly then bang he did the rest himself constricted it and ate it no probs. I would have rather he striked but I am just so glad he took the mouse with not much disturbance without having to be manhandled. Leaving him for a week now to clear the rest of his shed and try him again.
So glad he has eaten and i don't have to return him to the breeder. Thanks for everyones help on here. |

my female is 30 months old and has never strike fed But fed everytime i put her mouse in the hide with her so don't ever worry that yours is not strike feeding. :-). |
