Hi guys,

Wanted to get an opinion. Rebel feeds every Friday no problem. Friday just gone he was literally chomping at the bit to get the food and struck as soon as I got the rat pup near him, about 10cm high off the floor of his Viv!

I just went to check on him and may handle him and he took up the strike position as soon as I got near the viv.

I asked Kelf earlier and he said stick to every 7 days, but that was before what just happened.

Thoughts please?

Thanks,

Bram

Hi guys,

Sorry, been unwell.

I believe he's around 3 months. I didnt feed him again obviously. Just fed him on Friday and have gone in again and he's in predator mode again. Lol.

I think the rat pup is big enough, he certainly doesn't struggle but its the width if his mouth and tummy.

May have to look into it though.

Thanks.

Bram

Our whole lot of greedy beasts assume the position if they smell hairdrier rat, even if they were fed the day before.
Needless to say we dont go to take them out when they are in feed me mode.

Boris ate his rat, then 2 days later I was getting out the tongs & hairdryer to do Ria's and he shot out of his house and assumed the position! Needless to say, he didnt get anything!

How old is he? Is he due to move onto the next size prey?

Yeah I would agree with kelf stick to 5-7 days royals don't generally stay in feed mode for to long so should be fine to handle after 2 days.
Also if you feed to regularly its not healthy for your snake as they will be constantly digesting.

No fear here mate. Just wondered what was going on.

I let him calm down yesterday and handled him after that, no problems.

Put a glove on and if he goes for ya he will sort realise its not food. Dont fear the snake. Otherwise you won't handle him again.

Any thoughts guys?

Just been in to check on him again and he's like a coiled spring ready to strike again!
