Posted - 26/09/2013 : 17:42:34 Royals usually don't stray far from their enclosures too. They don't move around too much... well, at least not my royals. They tend to find one secure spot and stay there all day long. They might move the next night and stay there all day long.
So, I would hunt during the day when they're not moving. When I lost my royal, the door to the snake room was closed so I was fairly certain she is still in that small room. But, I spent an entire afternoon searching in closets, underneath furniture, inside drawers even tore up the bottom of the sink. No royal. I put powder on the perimeters of all the furnitures and walls. The next day, the powder was not touched. I went all throughout the room again and again and went through it again and again the next day. Powder untouched and no royal. I had to conlude that the royal has somehow found a way out of the room. Finally, I took all of the drawers out (the snake room is also my office) and dumped all the contents out... and there goes the royal buried underneath a stack of work papers in one of the drawers within 3 feet of the enclosure...

Posted - 26/09/2013 : 16:22:15 Depending on when your royal last ate, you could also try baiting it out with food. make sure to warm it up, and you can brain it (cut through to the brain with a knife) to make it extra smelly.
Sorry for all the messages, keep having ideas lol |

Posted - 26/09/2013 : 16:17:47 Also its very odd that you have several corn snakes and manage to lose your royal?!?! lol.
Corns are normally the houdini's of the snake world. |

Posted - 26/09/2013 : 16:16:20 If he's moving around they normally stay close to walls so leave some plastic bags on the floor around the walls. If you hear them rustle you will know he's there. Leave some clothes on the floor because they like to hide under things like that. (obviously check them regularly). leave a flour trail over doorways and you will be able to get an idea if he's moving between rooms. He will probably only bother to move at night time, so you may be best hunting round with a torch at night. Its starting to get cold so try leaving all the heating off in the house except for one area (snake room for example). That might draw him back to it. |
