Hi everyone,

What are the signs that a piedbald is beginning the shedding process?

The nonwhite sections of our piedbald seem normal in coloration but the white parts do look slightly pinkish.

Any help/advice greatly appreciated.

Kev

Thanks Leucistic.

I'll give that a go.

On a similar note, last night I watched my Mojave, Biscuit, shed.

I've never seen them do it before from the very start, where they rub their heads on anything till the first bit of skin peels away.

Was amazing!

Mine are all in a lidless rack with heat mat heating.

I just pop the damp (not wet or dripping) flannel in on top of the warm hides, as it dries out it just gives the overall humidity a nice little boost. Also a nice large water bowl so that they can have a soak if required, if you are finding your house is particularly arid you could also give him a very very light misting (not wet or soaking tho as you don't want to cause an RI).

I know some people that dry washing or water bowl under the rad in their rep rooms to boost overall humidity also but for me its unnecessary.

Hope that helps and any more questions feel free to ask

Thanks guys.

His eyes went blue yesterday... Even I can't miss that!

He's currently in a rub with a heat mat underneath. How could I assist with raising humidity? Do I even need to?

I'm assuming that a damp flannel on top of his hot hide would work better under a heat source... Right?

pink/red belly...dull colouration.

I don't have a pied but I do have an albino which can be hard to tell also. My Albino is actually deep in shed right now.

I keep an eye out for belly pinking and also subtle eye colour change. That is when I usually pop a damp flannel in on top the warm hide to give a humidity boost.

First of all the signs can be hard to spot but you soon pick up on it after a while.
