Ok so Ive read (and experienced!) loads about males fasting but do females tend to do it too? Ria has left her last 4 rats and she has only ever missed when in shed before. She comes out when I hair dryer but leaves it. On a plus note, Sas stuffed in a gerbil last night and he hasnt eaten since August! Well happy!

They're also well known for the 1000g barrier. 2 out of 3 of my older females fasted right at the 1000g mark and bounced around, either just under or just over 1000g

Both are showing signs of taking off again now but who knows??

My female fasted for 6 months when she was just over a year. Tried loads of different things to get her feeding again but she wasn't having any of it. She didm't lose a massive amount of weight at all. One day she just decided she was hungry again and starting feeding again. Since then she's pretty much eaten every meal (apart from when in shed etc.)

I`ve had a few slow down at that weight.

Thanks for that reassurance. Maybe Ria, at 18mths, thought she was fat at 1308g! 'Does my bum look big in this rat?'

Oh yes and big time too.
I have a 4 year old Normal who at the beginning of 2012 was 1600g, she ate in March then had 1 Rat in August, 1 in Sept, 1 in Oct. Then nothing until June when she had 2 Rats. She has had 2 more this month and is now 1650g.
I think she is at a weight she `s happy with. Cheap to keep though
