Hi All

From everything we have read (and keep reading) we would typically expect our Royal to be of a slightly nervous disposition which we can see in our Pastel who is 5 1/2 months old. However, we recently acquired a normal (don't know how, i blame the husband)!! who appears to have forgotten or has never been told that he is a royal python. He never balls up tight, only flinches if there is an EXTREMELY quick hand movement and will slither onto our hand from his viv without hesitation. He is happy to slither up our body and sit on our shoulders and unfortunately tickle your ear with his tongue!! I dont know if other people experience this but he just seems to be the complete opposite of everything you would expect. He is a very healthy eater and sheds normally. He just seems to be a happy go lucky little snake. Does anyone else notice anything out of the general "norm".

I know it may not always stay the same he is only 4 months old and just getting a hang on things i guess!!

My normal, Sas, would be out all day if he could. He likes his head stroked too and will happily put his head in my hand for me to do so. He likes to get inside my clothes too!He likes entwining himself in my long hair! Boris, my big Pastel occasionally hisses when I go to get him out, but once out he is very nosy! Ria, my young Pastel, is different. I dont see her out and about very often and she likes to be snug in her house. Having said that, if I get her out she is very calm and likes hanging round my neck.

It sure suits this house!!! With all of our freaks that we have the personality scale swings very wide.....eg our cat Splat thinks he is a dog! I was just surprised at how different both of them are but it makes for a good laugh!

I have 4 royals now (i say no more but it is inevitable that i will probs get more) and they are all completely differant my biggest female 2500 gram spider is the same as yours realy friendly and happy to be held and sit round your shoulders :). A male pastel who is a right grumpy sod and will most deffonately have a strike at you if you are not carefull with him and realy does not apreciate being held for long he will hiss and strike at movement near his head but he still feeds and does everything ok he is just a grumpy git lol. A female pastel who will ball up amd seem realy shy and will only come out of her ball when she is comfterble being held. A male bumblebee who is a little grumpy and will hiss when i go to get him out but as soon as he is out of his viv and being handled he settles down straight away :) so my 4 are completely differant to each other but im no snake expert so im guessing they all have differant temprements and attitude but they are all lovely in there own way :)

They're all individual at the end of the day, same as any animal. Some are shy, others are totally antisocial, while others can be total sweet hearts.

The more time you spend watching them, the more their character will show
