Posted - 25/10/2014 : 08:53:35 Hi. I posted a while ago and was told to feed my python every 5 days until hes around 600g. He now weighs 636g so would he be ok being fed every 7 days? Hes currently eating small weaner rats. Thanks |

Posted - 15/11/2014 : 09:47:10 When a snake regurgitates a meal it can take them around a fortnight to settle their stomach and be ready to eat again. I wouldn't worry yourself just yet, if he is showing no signs of illness just give it a few weeks and try again. |

Posted - 11/11/2014 : 13:18:27 HI my royal python is 9 months old I gave him a rat that I think was to big as he regurgitated it,and now he will no eat. That was two weeks ago, he has always been a good feeded. Should I take him to the vet?. His eyes are bright and he seems fine, am I worrying over nothing or does he need attention. Thank you |

Posted - 26/10/2014 : 10:00:28 agreed i no longer feed my lot to the exact day anymore sometimes a few days more/less and also depending on the food size as i tend to offer different sized meals and different prey items for variety. only one i stick closer to set days half the time is when the garter snakes gets fish i make sure shes fed again 5-6 days afterwards as they need eat more fish to keep them going than they do with rodents |

Posted - 26/10/2014 : 09:11:38 I must admit mine are fed on a random basis too. My theory being that it's more natural. |

Posted - 25/10/2014 : 22:15:51 Im with Kelfezond on this, but then i do have lots of different ages and weights so if i m feeding hatchlings and see some of the older ones showing signs of interest then they get offered as well. What you need to accept is that there really are no right and wrongs, things on the internet are only guides, Royals in the wild won`t wait every 5 days for example, if they see a food item and they are hungry then they will eat. |

Posted - 25/10/2014 : 12:25:38 As Chris said it's fine!
I happen to adopy a rather different style to most in that I change up my feeding pattern, I don't know if snakes are capable of learning the pattern some people say their snakes get more fiesty around feed day but I thought it would be a better replication of how they'd be in the wild and perhaps encourage a better feeding response if they didn't know when their next meal was coming - like I said purely a theory but sometimes I wait 5 days, sometimes 7, sometimes 10.
With my adults sometimes they're fed every 2 weeks, sometimes every 3 or anything inbetween. |
