1.2.3 - How many and the Sex of the reptile. ie 1.Male 2.Female 3.Unknown sex HET - Holds different genes from diferent morphs. RI - Respiratory Infection CB - Captive Bred CF - Captive Farmed WC - Wild Caught LTC - Long Term Captive FT - Frozen Thawed PK - Pre Killed FK - Fresh Killed TRP - theroyalpython.co.uk TKS - thekingsnake.co.uk TCS - thecornsnake.co.uk TRB - therainbowboa.co.uk the dark side - RFUK Hots - Venomous snakes
I know there are loads more out there that are used to explain other things and abrievations of snakes names, so if you want to see anymore added or explained please just post them and some one will answer and i will update the list.

Sorry Ali, that would depend on the type of gene, Recessive, Co-Dom or Dom.
Heterozygous means different, genes come in pairs, so in a heterozygous snake it solely means that those two genes are different.
If the pair are the same they are homozygous.
A Recessive gene needs to be in a pair (homozygous) to be visual. A heterozygous Co-Dominant gene is visual. A heterozygous Dominant gene is visual.
The difference between a Co-Dominant gene and a Dominant gene is that the homozygous form of a Co-Dominant gene is visually different to the heterozygous form. Whereas the homozygous form of a Dominant gene is the same as the the heterozygous form.
How do i put all that in a brief sentence...??? |
