As some of you know i bought a Pastel Male nearly 5 weeks ago and he hasn`t eaten once. Which to a newbie owner doesn`t fill me with to much confidence.
I left him for 2 weeks then tried him on a rat which he left to fester away in his warm end. Then for the last 2 weeks hes had absolutely no interest in anything, not even looking out from his hides in the night time.
Well i thought i`d take a little look tonight as i was changing his water and hes shed his skin. Because he`s been in his own quiet room and i`ve left him alone i didnt even realise, so im thinking that this could be why he`s had no interest in his food. So i`ll be trying to feed him again tomorrow, hopefully he`ll be up for it.

i breed them, but only just got babies, Cat knows people down there that does...

or you could breed your own, but takes a while to get them to size..

OR

you could get some smelly multi bedding and defrost a rat in it...

ohh okay!! :) thanks!!

btw, i bought a few weaner rats today. i picked the smallest ones. i got 4 mice left and my snake eats 2 at a time atm. i have one rat in the bag with the mice so when those four are up, i'm going to try her on the rat!! i think she should manage it. her body's a bit wider than the rat. should be cool yep? :)

it is a multi mammate also know as an African soft fur rat..

like chocolate to a royal..a lot of royals do better on these than they do on rats...
hodgie Posted - 26/07/2009 : 21:39:58
Its a native rodent of Africa, a cross between a Rat and a Mouse.

Was a Multi. He is a very mild mannered chap, very very timid. I put the multi in using the tongs and as usual there seemed to be absolutely no interest no tongue flickering and then bang. The Multi was warmed up in a freezer bag in warm water for about 15 mins.
Fortunately i had the camera close by.

Im getting 5 of them free off the bloke i bought him from, he said he`ll eat them no problem, however i need to be careful as he could quickly get addicted to them.
Apparently he hardly ever handled him so i suppose the move, being put into a new home plus the added affect of going into shed could all be a reason why he`s had little to no interest in feeding.
