Posted - 07/09/2009 : 20:09:55 i use a rep rad for my big boa, i left it on for 24 hours first to let the initial smell go and to stabilize the temps |

Posted - 07/09/2009 : 14:58:39 Don't worry about it mate i got one of these and they do stink when you turn them on like melting plastic, it does last for a while, but when it clears its fine and works brilliantly. Where did you get the guard from? i've had trouble gettin one for the rep rad. |

Posted - 06/09/2009 : 19:24:57 i was looking at the ahs ones yesterday and this is what it says in the instructions "When first switching on the heater you may get an initial smell from the paint work, don't worry the paint is non toxic and will soon disappear. Also a clicking noise may be heard this is the thermal cut out limiting the case temperature of the AHS. "....is it a ahs with the built in stat, could you let me know if the case gets hot?

Posted - 06/09/2009 : 10:46:40 I would keep them in different rooms for atleast 5 days until the smell has gone. I would worry you can smell burning!
Fumes can have a very serious effect on any animals so its best to keep it working in a well vented room until your 100% confident its 'worn in' |
