from other threads you may know that i have a new 9 week old royal python.
after feeding, she has a tendency to rub her head against the dead wood in her vivarium and the edge, by the glass doors. I know snakes do this when they are shedding, but she is not near shedding, there are no signs of shedding yet, and she only does it after she has finished eating.
none of my other snakes i have had have done this, im sure its nothing to worry about, but was just checking to see whether anyone elses snake does this. |

she yawns a lot after she has eaten, i reckon that is her realigning her jaw.
she only rub her head that one she hasnt done it again.

Yes, Gladysss does this after each feed, it's like she has to scratch, but i think it must be a jaw thing!

doesn't sound like realigning jaws to me......... they usually yawn to do that
more likely just 'cleaning up' - dribble, (hopefully not) substrate, rat fluff........  |

Both Ruby and Doug do this that i have noticed and I have always put it down to them 'tidying' themselves up after eating |

maybe it is her way of realigning her jaws or something like that..none of mine do it, so i cant be of much help, but i am sure Ali or one of the mods might have a better idea;-) |

i feed her in the viv, but i always put the mouse on top of her cave hide or on the dead wood bridge, and i never leave her until she has finished eating. Her substrate is wood chippings but she has never eaten on the substrate.
I will just keep an eye on her for her next few feeds. |

Hi Do you feed in the viv. What kind of substrate do you have. You might find that a small bit of substrate may have stuck to food and she is trying to get rid of it. |

Well, I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure it's where they have their mouths open whilst swallowing their food, so naturally they dribble! So I think they are just trying to get rid of said dribble.
I noticed Rex doing it after his meal. |
