Posted - 29/09/2009 : 15:00:58 hi, most threads i have seen on this forum are telling me and other members that you best not to feed during shed. but i saw a shed saying that after the eyes have cleared up and it is time to shed the body skin, i should try and feed the snake because they need a lot of energy to shed. is this true or should i leave feeding until the snake has completely shed the skin. |

Posted - 05/10/2009 : 11:06:38 like MC says, it's down to the snake's preference really, just don't be alramed if a feed is refused
i personally don't feed many of mine while they're in blue as it's more natural for them |

Posted - 05/10/2009 : 11:02:07 I chuck it in regardless, if they dont eat it, i wont press them into it, i just remove it and offer it to the next snakey. so far most of mine have eaten regardless, i think Ra and Athena have missed maybe one or two feeds each so far, It is just a bucket and will eat no matter what, Helo is the same :) |

Posted - 29/09/2009 : 19:07:17 I would go with Spor and wait until the snake has shed. |

Posted - 29/09/2009 : 15:19:24 in my opinion its best to wait until after shed is complete when the snake will be hungry from energy used. Many snakes will just plainly refuse to eat during shedding process some snakes may even regurge if they try to eat during shed. so all in all best to wait. the whole process of shed doesn't take that long, that it would do any harm to wait and you'll probably save yourself from having to bin a refused prey item and save a bit of stress as well. Thats my opinion, I'm sure others may feel differently. The only exception i would make to this would be if i knew the snake had not been feeding and feared that it might not have the energy to put in to a shed. |
