Can anyone tell me if timber and mdf are sefe to use when building racking?

I would build it outside so the dust would not be a problem. Think I would varnish it all as well so the any moisture would not be an issue. Cheers for the input.

should be all good. if you can it would be best to use timber that has already had a good time to dry out. otherwise you'll find that it will warp a good bit once built. especially with extra heat from mats. As for mdf. as it is a very dusty material you would just need to make sure that it has had a good brush of and a lick of varnish perhaps or other sealant and I know it goes with out staying but not cut or sanded any where near you animals.
