Is the only way to drill more holes into the rub? It is currently saying 93% oops |

you could have a faulty hygrometer. i would try and get the hold of another one to check if i were you.
Another way to help reduce humidity for those who need it is to leave a small bowl of salt near your rub. the salt helps pull the moisture out of the air circulating the rub. |

got three top vents and two
bottom ones

They only really need normal room humidity, which is about 50% - 60%. As Karl said, too much will make him ill. I have my warm end at 31c too. |

If you go near 80% your gonna have problems (this isn't being nasty incase it comes over that way in txt). High humidity levels promotes the growth of bacteria etc, this can (and does) lead to respiratory infections in snakes (RIs). Your hot end should be circa 90f, personally I keep mine at 88F (31C).
A royal doesn't really need a large waterbowl as they tend not to soak (unless there is a problem in general).

only half in on the heat mat, i was told hot side up to 90 - 95f is that wrong?
Its quite a big water bowl, but i dont have many holes in the side of the rub, so today i will
add some more holes, and see how i go.
Also i was told 50 - 80% humidity, should it stay more to the lower end of that. Im such a
worrier.lol
Im so glad i set it up early before i got the snake.

just a thought i had earlier, how much of the rub is on top of the heat mat?

50% is fine, mine is lower and I have no problems with shedding etc.
Basic way to reduce humidity is to increase air flow, or move the water to the cool end, or reduce the surface area of the water (smaller bowl) |

is it a small bowl? maybe put it in the cool end and leave it for a day see what happens then..
my hot end sits at 88-90 so you should be ok, but would not want it to much hotter... |

It is a digi hydrometer.
I will try and put the bowl back later in the cool end and see what happens

as above are you using a dial? what substrate are you using?
if it is bark it can take a while to dry out before it settles..
just had a thought, have you drilled holes at each end of the rub as well?
not the lid, but you should see some dimples, those are where i drilled also..at opposite ends to give a bit more airflow..
lastly is your water bowl away from the heat source as that will cause humidity to rise to.. |

It'd certainly be the first thing I'd try. Are you using a digital hygrometer? The dial ones are pants. |
