Posted - 31/12/2009 : 17:55:42 i fed my 7 month old royal python this morning. for the last hour i've been putting my head close to the viv looking into her hide to see her, and every time, she's popped her head right out and stares at me. Is this just because she see's me as potential food or just general curiosity or something else?
i'd appreciate any opinions.
thanks and happy new year

Posted - 02/01/2010 : 02:16:36 yeah try moving up . as your snake is nearly 100g a small mouse should be no problem to it. |

Posted - 01/01/2010 : 16:37:02 Thats real good to know. I've been feeding fuzzies (twice so far) a week apart. just weighed the remaining one and its 7g so probably a bit small. I'll get a small mouse for this weeks feed. |

Posted - 01/01/2010 : 15:55:36 I've never heard the sizing prey weight=10-15% of snake weight is that a good guide? I'd been working on about 1.5 x the width of the snakes body |

Posted - 01/01/2010 : 02:40:41 Hi. just looking to see whats going on. what would you do if a huge shadow appeared at your front window?LOL as for the food item size if she is at 380g then what you are feeding her is far to small. she should be on at least medium sized mice at that weight if not weaner rats. i would get out your scales and see what weight she is and then work out what she should be eating from that. prey item should be 10-15% weight of your snake.. Good luck and happy new year.

Posted - 31/12/2009 : 20:33:27 I'm not sure how much she weighs but I do know she's 7 months old, maybe 380g maybe? I read on a post earlier that an 09 hatchling was 380g so I'm guessing around that. And I'm feeding her small mice, one up from pinkies (they have fur.) Thanks for your reply and I will appreciate it if you have any more info. Thanks Harry |
