hey guys
i have been having troubles with my thermometer in Boo's tank. it is digital and i have had replacements of it about 3 times now because it changes temperature readings too often and they are dramatic readings like from 31.4C to 25C. I cannot understand why this is happening
anyway i have found this on ebay

was wondering whether it was any good or not, because i check the temperatures a few times a day, and the thermostat keeps the temperature good, so would this be ok to measure the temperature in the tank.
i was asking because it isnt in the tank 24/7, but then again i am not checking the temperature 24/7

dont bother with that thermometer,i got one the same and cant get on with it,gives differant readings depending on range

it is digital. i have just moved the thermometer and the temperature is stabilizing itself again, i am still going to buy a better quality digital one. This one always changes its mind on what the temperature is.

what should i be listening to
the thermostat set at 30C
the thermometer says its 35C
what's more reliable? |

ive got a habistat mat-stat and i run a seperate digital thermometer onto the heat mat to see what temps its running at and it drops down to 89.9f and then heats back up to 91.5f but it never goes out of that range of temps. |

I use a dimmer stat with a red bulb on 2 of my vivs and when my heating is off it stays a steady 32-33*C...when i put the heating on it drops to around 27-28*C and just to add there are no radiators near the vivs. The viv next to it is on a dimmer but with a ceramic and the temp stays bang on 33*C.

no its a dimmer stat. it works perfectly just thought that the thermometer might be better at reading the temperature than the one that i already have, the one that i have had to replace 3 times |

What type of thermostat is it?
If it is an on/off or Matstat then that is how they work, the heat up until a set temperature is reached, switch off and then turn back on when it has dropped down an amount. |

the thermostat is set on 32C and the temperature gets to about 31.4C according to the digital thermometer. but the problem is the thermometer says that it is 25C sometimes, despite never changing the thermostat settings. Just thought that this new thermometer might be better at reading the temperature than the digital one that i currently have.

Its not the thermometer that controls the temperature, its the thermostat. |
