Posted - 16/01/2010 : 10:18:18 My Royal male is in a 3ft viv and it has two hides one at each end It is heated by a ceramic bulb and the temp at the hot end is 32.5 with the probe just above substrate and few inches below bottom of bulb Question is my Royal is nearly always in the cooler hide, I'd say 90% of the time he is in there
Is that normal or an indication that the viv is set too high |

Posted - 25/01/2010 : 19:39:19 Hot everytime for mine. Only seen him in cool hide twice in past 7 months. Once when thermostat probed get raised up off substrate and RUB floor at hot end was 42 degrees (sensible snake), and the second time was when he had knocked over the hide at hot end. He likes it cosy. |

Posted - 23/01/2010 : 22:42:04 I'll be picking up an identical one just out of interest to stick at the cool end. Tried holding my ground but snakey gets what snakey wants (within reason). |

Posted - 20/01/2010 : 07:57:09 I might try swapping the caves round to see if it is the cave, just out of curiosity
Ideally which end should they spend the majority of time in |

Posted - 17/01/2010 : 18:04:58 Drazen spends almost all his time at the warm end, I think he pefers the type of cave at that end as he's in there almost all the time. I'm lucky if I see him out! |

Posted - 16/01/2010 : 10:35:54 The only time my royal has done that is when my temperatures had become to hot in the warm end.
Are you using a digital thermometer to get a more accurate reading or is it a dial you are using?
Is there any chance of a photo of your set up as a picture paints a thousand words as they say. |
