is this list ok for what i need to buy for me to get a royal, please say if there is anything i don't need and if there is anything i need

3ft viv
ceramic heat bulb
protector, mesh thing for bulb
11x11 heat mat
pp thermostat
aspen bedding
3 medium exo terra hides
2-3 silk plants

i don't know wheather to buy a plastic box, or to just buy the 3ft viv and partition it off. i was gunna buy the 3ft viv and partition it off to 2ft with the heat mat in that side then when it grows place the ceramic bulb in and take the partition out.

what do you guys think. is there anything im forgetting or something i don't need.

Exactly why I like IR, there's enough light to see what they're up to. Feather will be getting an IR bulb when she goes into her viv.

i prefer to use ceramic and then put little lights in the viv to make it light. i don't have a royal yet but that is what i plan to do anyway

Yes ofc, sorry, so whats the difference between a ceramic bulb and an IR bulb, which one is btter to use, I see nearly everyone using ceramic where as you use IR not quite sure of the difference.

You can't use a PP stat with an IR bulb or you'll end up with a disco as the light would be going on and off very quickly and you'd probably blow the bulb quite quickly.

Just to say, whats the difference between a ceramic bulb and a infared red bulb? and is it better to have a pulse proportional with them or a dimming, as I got my pulse proportional stat today its so good does the exact temprature:).

ye sorry, forgot about that but new i had to get one.

Yes, go for a mat whilst partitioned otherwise you won't get a heat gradient.

You might want to add water bowl to your list.

In that case I would get the mat. 150w will be fine for a 3' viv.

what ceramic bulb would i need, wat wattage
reptiledanny Posted - 20/01/2010 : 20:09:07
im getting a hatchling, so might get the 3ft and partition it off at 1.5 or 2ft.

i was told that a heat at was best for hatchling.

I wouldnt bother with the heat mat if its going into a 3ft viv, and of course that depends on what age snake you're getting.
