Posted - 30/01/2010 : 22:45:36 have just got my first royal, he's named Gaius and is gorgeous! A couple of questions though? How long is it safe for him to be out of his viv? How long is it before a royal poos after it's been fed? many thanks xx |

Posted - 31/01/2010 : 21:42:05 if you've got a longish journey to the rep shop you could always use a hotwater bottle ( ) remembering that 30-32*C to keep your royal warm will only feel tepid to us with a body temp of about 37*C |

Posted - 31/01/2010 : 09:09:28 Pet shops, especially ones with reptiles in are usually quite warm, so that shouldn't be a problem. Personally I'd leave a new Royal alone to settle in for a couple of weeks though and make sure its taken a couple of feeds before I'd handle at all. |

Posted - 31/01/2010 : 09:02:38 Thanks for your replies. We've got an animal photograher coming locally to a pet shop. Would it be safe to take Gaius? As it would mean him being out of his viv a fair while. Sorry for the daft questions, kinda happens when you're a noob I think lol :P |

Posted - 30/01/2010 : 23:21:21 Hey im a new owner too :) i cant give you answers to those questions really, but im sure someone will do soon :)
My guess is 4-6weeks for a poo, but can vary greatly i think. and if your royal is new its best to let him/her settle in the viv for a few weeks before handling much at all, but when he/she is relaxed enough to handle her i think its safe to keep it out for 20minutes or so, thats only a guess, im sure someone will give you a better answer soon.
