i am using a 40w normal spot and a 60w normal spot in both my tanks what wattage would be the equivalent in Infra red bulbs or nocturnal bulbs??

As long as you have a Dimming Stat you'll be fine.

cool thanks for the info guys, i am an IR virgin and have never used em before so just wanted to know a bit about them so i dont cook my little guys

obviously a higher wattage bulb won't have to work as hard as a lower wattage one to maintain a set temperature (if thermostatically controlled of course)

depends on what size viv it is in. and aslong as its stated it can be a high wattage as the stat will control it.
