Hi
Now Heffa is nearly 1 year old, I am moving her from her 12L rub, into a bigger RUB, however I want to start preparing her 3ft viv.
I have a pulse thermostat, and as previously advised that ceramic heating would be the best source of heating. Therefore, can you advise what ceramic wattage i would need.
Heffa is doing really well, she is now on small rats, and a grand weight of about 800g :)

I have exo terra 100w ceramic's in all 3 of my 3 foot vivs. All work well. |

I use this in my Vivs and Rubs
Its around £4-50 a roll, its 40 metres long by 56cm wide. |

Just make sure the inside is waterproof. If you use conti board then thats waterproof and you can get edging strips etc but if you make one from another wood then youll need to give it a few coats of varnish to seal it so you can clean it properly :-)
Its up to you if you want to keep using kitchen roll, theres nowt wrong with things like aspen/aubiose/hemp/beech etc I prefer aspen (not tried aubiose yet!) to the bigger wood chip as I feel its softer and its quite absorbent too which is good! I think its actually harder to spot clean kitchen roll as it all gets soaked and you need to empty the whole viv/rub but with aspen it locally absorbs whatever is spilled so you just scoop out the dirty substrate and replace it, then every month do a whole clean out.
Also a lot of people put a shelf in, you can basically do whatever you want as long as theres no sharp edges or sticky stuff about.

In my viv, would it be ok to put like a shelf in, so i can put a hide in at a different level. unfortunately the viv i have is long and plain, and i want to spruce it up a lil.
also, can you give me some clues on other items i can put in/

150W or 250W are the most common for 3' vivs I'd say.
The larger you can use, the less hard it will have to work and the longer they seem to last. |
