Posted - 16/06/2010 : 22:30:17 Hi everyone! Since I got Reg (my Royal) he's been feeding on rats weekly with no dramas unless shedding. He was on pup's when I bought him and I have since moved him onto weaners. He now weighs in at 355g and looks really healthy. A guy at a local reptile shop keeps saying I should try feeding him gerbils as they're more likely to be the snakes natural food in the wild. Is this a valid idea or nonsence? Does anyone here feed their royal anything other than rats/mice? The gerbils he had in the freezer were a good size, about the same as a large rat weaner. Any opinions would be very welcome. ATB |

Posted - 17/06/2010 : 22:34:33 I can vouch for gerbils being VERY addictive and VERY expensive when your snake reaches a fair size. Don't do it! |

Posted - 16/06/2010 : 22:58:25 Gerbils can be addicitve, so when your Royal outgrows them you may struggle to get them back onto rats and end up having to feed multiple Gerbils. Very expensive! |
