This graph is based on averages weights of Royal Pythons at known ages. Please feel free to add any weights of your snakes to this thread along with the age in months at time of weighing.

The more results we get, the more accurate the graph will become.

Cheers.

edit: You should remember this graph is here for reference, each royal python grows at a different weight as it shows here and if your python is eating and happy you should not change your care or food size if he is bigger or smaller than the average.

I got my female, Kei on Monday and have her a quick weigh in, she came in at 181g and is roughly 10 months old, hope this is roughly a good weight.

Thanks Chris. It's great to get the view of someone experienced - handy things, forums..! ;)

definitely not 2 years old unless it's rarely eaten, they hatch out around 100g give or take a bit so 320g would be a good few month's old ish

Hi,
My Royal is 24 inches long and 320g, apparently male, eating 1 small mouse every week with no probs, handles well. Only had him a month & currently beginning to shed. The dealer who bred him (Swallow Aquatics) said he was about 2 years old, but I think that may have been a guess and forum comments & your Excel graph also suggest he is younger than 2. Any thoughts..?

Fluffy is 9 months old and weighs in at 330g
Crackers is 7 months old and weighs in at 221g

Weighed Rebel today at 66g. He is eating well and seems very happy. He's around 45cm but I am unsure of age as the shop wasn't told by the breeder. I belive him to be aroubd 10 weeks old.

Loki at 18 months is 512g. Appears on the lighter scale but eats every week and healthy so not concerned xx

As a novice keeper I find this reassuring. Just the reason I joined.

Curly, my female royal is 178g at 4 months so seems around average.

Nigel was hatched May 2012 at 72g, at 2 months old he was 157g, at 4 months he was 236g, his current weight aged 6 months is 478g. All weights were taken when empty.

Am liking the graph, and when I'm sober enough will be studying it closely against slinkies stats.

Well it's an idea I might work on then in that case... if I eventually get around to it lol
AndyJ80 Posted - 31/08/2012 : 10:56:24
would it be snake length or shed length? I wouldn't mind plotting a graph
Kelfezond Posted - 31/08/2012 : 10:20:12
Nothing stopping you from doing one :D

Hi I was just wondering, seeing as most people don't really know how old their snake is, maybe a graph comparing the Length x Weight might also be useful.

I say this because it would be useful to me anyway lol..
matildasmum Posted - 29/07/2012 : 21:26:53
yes i am new here, thankyou,
we have only had matilda for 1 week, she has had a feed here yesterday and was fine, ate straight away, i will just keep an eye on her growth, she seems perfectly healthy, i guess im just a bit paranoid as this is my first experience of keeping a snake,
Lotabob Posted - 29/07/2012 : 20:35:28
Matilasmum, there is no such thing as too little going by weight alone. The graph is only a representation of members weights by age out of interest rather than a stead fast guide for weight. At 12 weeks 72 grams sound perfectly healthy in my books. Is she eating OK?

I have just seen the pictures you posted, that is one healthy and normal looking normal lol.

PS not noticed you on here before so welcome to the forum.

my snake is 12 weeks old and only weighs 72g, is that too little, we only got her a week ago today??
Lotabob Posted - 09/07/2012 : 19:47:47
Duke emptied yesterday.

23 months old 1526 Grams.

Scrap that he is 2 years old tomorrow. Go with 24 months.
